Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET)

The Post Graduate Common Entrance Test (PGCET) is the entrance test for admission into MBA and MCA courses in the state of Karnataka. PGCET is conducted by Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belgaum, under the supervision of the Central Post Graduate Admission Committee (CPAC).

The test has four sections: English proficiency, general awareness, reasoning, and quantitative analysis. The exam is conducted on the second Sunday of June every year.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates who have passed any undergraduate examination with not less than 50% aggregate marks.
  • Candidates who have appeared for the final year examination are also eligible to apply for the PGCET-2011.

The syllabus for PGCET MBA test is as follows

Section – A: Proficiency in English Language covers the following: Synonyms, Antonyms, One-word substitution, Ologies and Ographies, Idioms and phrases, Pairs expressing relationships, Grammar, Famous Books in English Literature, and Sentence Correction and Vocabulary.

Section – B: General Knowledge covers the following: Indian business environment, Global environment, Social events, Cultural events, Economics, Management, Political events, Historical events, Current affairs, Sports, Awards, Personalities & achievements, Science and technology, and Humanities.

Section – C: Test of Reasoning and General Intelligence covers the following: Puzzles, Diagrams, Analogy, Logic, Verbal Ability, Analytical Ability, and related aspects.

Section–D: Quantitative Analysis covers the following: Arithmetic, Data Analysis & Interpretation, Statistics, and related Quantitative Aspects

Exam Format

The exam runs for two hours with 100 questions for a total of 100 marks. No negative marks are deducted for wrong answers. The exam will contain only objective type questions. The paper will give equal weight to all the topics in the syllabus.

Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET)

Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GCET) is conducted by Gujarat Technological University (GTU) for admissions to Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and Masters of Computer Application (MCA). Since 2009, the GCET is being conducted online.

Eligibility

  • Candidate must have passed graduation from any university located in Gujarat.
  • Candidate must have graduated with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
  • Candidates who are in their final year of graduation are also eligible for the test. There is neither an age limit nor an attempt limit.

Testing Areas

A typical question set will be of analytical and logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude, English language skills, and general knowledge.

Exam Format

GCET is a computer-based test and students will have a choice of appearing for the test twice. The test runs for 80 minutes with 100 multiple-choice questions. There are negative markings for wrong answers. For students appearing for MBA and MCA together will have to give a test of 120 multiple-choice questions of 96 minutes.

How to Apply

Registration: For new registration, candidate has to print the Fee Challan link given on the registration website and go to any of the help centers. The bank will accept challan and fee there. The candidate can get an information brochure from the help centre, which will also contain your user ID and password.

With the user ID and password, the candidate must complete the application form on the website at www.gtu.ac.in. In case of any problems, email gcet@gtu.ac.in or contact the Central Control Room at GTU, Ahmedabad.

Registration Acknowledgement: The candidate has to report to the nearest Help Center along with the duly signed application form, acknowledgement slip, and photocopy of the required documents (e.g., Final Year Degree mark sheet, H.S.C examination mark sheet, S.S.C mark sheet) to get the registration acknowledgement slip.

Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET)

Integrated Common Entrance Test (ICET) is the entrance examination that a student must appear for in order to secure admission to Master of Computer Applications (MCA) and Master of Business Administration (MBA) courses offered by various universities in Andhra Pradesh, India.

Eligibility Criteria

The candidates should be Indian Nationals and should satisfy local/non-local status requirements laid down in the Andhra Pradesh Educational Institutions (Regulations of Admission)Order, 1974 as amended upto date (as per G.O.Ms.No. 25, dt: 19.03.2004 & G.O.Ms.No.108, Higher Education Department, dated 30-7-2005 and its amendments).

The candidates other than Indian Nationals should satisfy the rules of the Universities concerned. A pass (or) appearance at the final year examinations of Bachelor’s Degree (Except BOL and BFA) of any University in Andhra Pradesh or any other University Recognized as equivalent thereto is mandatory.

The candidate seeking admission to an MBA course should have passed a Bachelor’s Degree Examination of not less than three years duration from any recognized University or equivalent thereof besides passing SSC or equivalent examination with Mathematics as one of the subjects.

The candidates who are appearing for the final year degree examination shall also be eligible to appear for ICET-2009.

Admission into any college depends on its Recognition/Affiliation by the Statutory Bodies.

Qualifying marks in ICET-2009 are 25% and no minimum marks are prescribed for SC/ST candidates.

Mere qualification in the entrance test does not entitle a candidate to have been admitted into MBA/MCA course unless the candidate:

  • appears before the ‘on-line counseling’ at any of the Counseling Centres as notified.
  • applies in response to the admission notification issued by the authority concerned (for distance mode).
  • satisfies all the eligibility conditions of admission stipulated by the authority concerned.

How to Apply

The cost of the application form for entrance test : Rs.250/- (inclusive of Registration fee and Test fee) The application form must be affixed with an attested Black & White passport size photograph. The computerized ICR summary sheet must be pasted with unattested identical Black & White photograph.

    The Convener ICET-2009 reserves the right to reject the application of the candidate at any stage if:
  • The application is incomplete or filled by others
  • The application is not signed
  • The candidate fails to satisfy the eligibility conditions
  • Any false or incorrect information is furnished
  • The entries in the application form are illegible
  • The application is received after the last date and time notified.

Any change whatsoever including that of Caste/Community/Status of category and examination centre claimed in the application form will not be permitted once the form is received by the Convener. As per G.O.Ms. No. 58 Social Welfare Dept., Govt. of A.P. Dt. 12.5.1998, the candidates claiming admission to this course under reserved quota meant for SC, ST and BC are required to produce Integrated Community Certificate issued.

The Original Hall Ticket will be sent only by post, and will not be issued to you in person. The Convener will not be held responsible for non-receipt or postal delay of the Hall Ticket.

Maharastra CET (Common Entrance Test)

Maharastra CET (Common Entrance Test) is conducted by the Directorate of Technical Education, Maharshtra. The exam is designed for admission to the two year full time MBA/MMS courses offered in affiliated universities in Maharashtra. The exam has three separate sections namely reasoning ability, Quantitative Test and English language and Comprehension test. The exam has 200 questions with duration of 200 minutes. Unlike other entrance exams MAHCET has no negative markings.

Exam Format

The MH-CET is an objective type written test of 2 and half hrs duration.

Time: 150 minutes

Marks allocation

Correct attempt: 1 mark

Incorrect attempt: No negative marking

How to Apply

A candidate is required to purchase the application kit from the designated post office.

The candidate should login on the website using the application ID and Password provided in the application kit, fill in details and upload picture along with signature

The candidate can then take a print out of the CET hall ticket
